The primary school based in Zuidwijk mainly focusses on interspaces. It tries to reinvent these spaces between the spaces and seeks for a smooth transitions between them.

1.      Neighbourhood to Site

2.      Site to Schoolyard

3.      Schoolyard to School

4.      School to Heart

5.      Heart to Classroom

The primary school based in Zuidwijk mainly focusses on interspaces. It tries to reinvent these spaces between the spaces and seeks for a smooth transitions between them. 

The interspaces ranked by size which will be shown are:

To make a smooth transition between the post-war building blocks, the school building is divided into three parts. This creates an ensemble of volumes instead of one large volume, which creates a smooth transition between the building blocks. The centre of the building opens to the street, creating an open and welcoming gesture. The outer parts of the school have sloping roofs which creates spacious classrooms which benefit from the natural light coming from the North through roof windows.

The schools structure is entirely made out of wooden elements. Glulam columns and beams hold the school together and wooden hollow core slabs are used and rest upon them. The façade is made out of masonry to make the new building fit seamlessly in the urban context.
