“CONTEMPORARY PLASTICITY FACING TRADITIONAL”

As a result of this positioning it ensures that this building is located on the opposite of Antinori. Because of this prominent positioning, it makes it an excellent opportunity to make a connection with this Palazzo on the other side of the street. Not a direct connection, but as you can see on the situation plan, the building has a clear floorplan, but there’s one exeption in the floorplan, wich is the corner on the north west. You can see the result of this in the 3d axonometry. Where you can clearly see, and then we come to what my slogan is about, you can clearly see how the building is facing the traditional style palazzo.

It is maybe not a surprise that the entrance is then situated here on the corner. This is the entrance of the appartments from above. On the ground floor there will be space for commercial. The apartments are situated around two atriums, and these atriums are positioned in such a way that at some point you can look to the other side, and sometimes you can not. So that causes an interesting circulation through the building. You can also see this on the ground floor at the entrance, where you enter, you cannot already see the open court.

The facade you see in the 3d typologie, is over here in a scale 1 to 20. The materialisation is of natural stone and Chinese bluestone on the base. The main principle of the facade is to make a contemporary placticity. Made out of a grid system, where the importance is in the connection between the verticals en the horizontals. It is so that the vertical panel most in front is always continuous. and for the other panels, there is the rule that horizontals  continue. That causes an interesting connection and also placticity of the facade and the effect in depth. Another principle is that the stories has profiling, and the ground floor has not. This is to give some order in functions. To give living a higher order than the commercial. The ballustrades are made in such a way that the ballusters are rotated 45 degrees with the sharp side in front. This causes again some effect in dept and it is related tot he whole facade principle.
