On equal ground represents a visionary building concept designed to elevate attention and awareness for visually and mobility-impaired residents. The essence of this project lies in creating an inclusive town hall that places special emphasis on accommodating these individuals. At its heart, inclusion recognizes the inherent worth of every person. I aim to set an example for the community, by making the town hall a place where everyone belongs, by embracing inclusive design principles, so people can navigate through the building safe, comfortable but most important equally.

The building exist of three clusters and an core:

Cluster 1 digitalization, innovation and information

It encapsulates all facets of the digital needs of the town and supports residents to follow educational courses in how to navigated in this digital era in this cluster.

Cluster 2 urban management and living environment

Ensures that the town is a nice place to live. They monitor safety and public order and transportation but also actively encourage residents to participate in dilemma’s so the town can be developed as inclusive as possible.

Cluster 3 social affairs (education, culture, well-being and participation)

Strives for excellence services in areas such as healthcare, debt assistance, education and anti-discrimination. Collaboration with experts and residents is extremely important in this cluster.

The core

At the center of the building and community lies the council chamber, a unifying space where residents can gather with employees, civil servants, fraction leaders and the major for meaningful discussions. This chamber servers as a focal point for inclusive dialogues, where individuals can actively participate, deliberate and collectively make decisions. Accessible through a gently sloping ramp, the council chamber is integrated into the central garden, establishing a harmonious link with the surrounding areas of the town hall. From the main building, one can peer into the hallways of the council chamber, fosting a visual connection with the core of the building, this connection is also visible in the architecture of the hallways because of the sloping and slanted roof which is woven seamlessly into to council chamber.
