We think to be quite familiar with waste as it’s part of our daily routine, that’s usually not the case.

When we dispose our trash bag in the nearest container, and the truck brings its contents away, we see only a small part of the waste system.

When we dispose our trash bag in the nearest container, and the truck brings its contents away, we see only a small part of the waste system. 

Today's throwaway society, where we are pushed to consume without limits, is inevitably connected to the waste system.

 

This project starts from the site reading of the spatial dynamic on the landfill Afvalzorg in Nauerna near Amsterdam, a mountain in the Dutch landscape. It explores the ‘broken relationship’ between waste and consumers concerning the detachment with the waste mountain they produce.

 

This project attempts to shock using representational devices within several experiences in order to confront the public with the waste system
