This elevated route goes against the grain of the building and thereby stringing the spaces together like a pearl necklace.The spaces that are stringed together have a variety of spatial qualities: there are the ‘loggia’ like spaces near the façade on the Meent where there is a strong connection with the busy shopping street and where pedestrians can create a visual connection with the inside. The bigger space that these loggias are follow up with are double-height introvert spaces, these focus open up the route with more air and highlight the removal that took place to make this space. The last space that is introduced holds a connection to the outside like the loggia’s do to the busy street side but these spaces connect with the inside of the block and highlight the serenity and quiet of the service court.

The mending of old and new is done in a way that all newly added materials blend in with the excising so the intervention doesn’t ask any attention.  Newly added walls will be constructed in brick and concrete to give a sense of cohesion, that it’s been this way  since construction
