The focus hier was into how the neighbourhood of Oude Westen has shaped and appropriated itself after the urban renewal of the 80’s, mainly from interconnected hierarchy of semi-public and public spaces to a clear separation between the two. Despite the many advantages of this cut between the courtyards of the housing blocks and the public space,  this may have negative effect on the social cohesion, simply because, the distinct qualities of the courtyards are not freely accessible for everyone. So the idea hier is to transform one of the less appropriated squares, the square of Toni Koopmanplein, to an intimate and open public space, that is overwhelmingly surrounded by greenery and has the poetical to host intimate gatherings similar to the ones that are happening in the courtyards of the housing blocks.
