When you enter the Binnenrotte from the north you passing the Lombardkade market. It’s a square that seemed to be cut of by the Meent from the long Binnenrotte and is therefore somehow isolated.
The building provides a place on the square where you can sit but you can also enter. On the more sunny days it is also a great terrace and during the markets it acts as a prominent market stall due to its integration into the functional structure of the market.
Once inside Brick and Conrete form a harmonious interplay. The perforated wall allows light to enter the building without being completely transparent. Concrete leads you to the top via the monolith staircase. When you reach the top you can view the Binnenrotte and withdraw yourself from the hectic city.
