The world is a digital domain run by the government. Every transaction is connected to the blockchain and controlled by the blockchain. Every person became a not, a code, a number in the blockchain the government holds society in a chain. This new digital world is safe and without fraud, like the big bank crash during the early 2000’s. Is this the utopian world everybody dreamt about? Are there any uncertainties now? How exiting is life in a period where the smallest misstep is ticketed by the government. Perhaps a revolt is on the lure? 

Society does not accept people that remove themselves from the blockchain, they will be ‘shunned’. Shunned is a reference to the new testament and a more non aggressive way to stone somebody to death, by just quitting all forms of communication. Fully ignoring their existence. People that are shunned have no place to go, no family, no home. They have to leave city life and go somewhere else, they move to the sea. Swimming themselves to freedom. Making friends in the water, being aware of your body and mind. Noticing the mind is a very powerful instrument.  

The border between land and sea is vague. Vague because it changes constantly due to the tides, because it splits two different worlds. The difference between an under the water surface life and an on the ground life. This metaphor is a character for the current world. Do you go digital or drown in the digitalness surrounding you. Drown in the lack of a personal touch. The personal touch connecting people instead of the computer cable connecting you to the ‘’world’’. More and more people take comfort of buying this luxury. The commercial businesses that survived the roaring 2050’s where most of the companies where taken over by the big Russian mining companies are giving an opportunity to buy your block from the blockchain. The title; ‘’blocked from the blockchain’’. A risky dangerous business. Hiding from the blockchain is illegal, removing yourself is one of the biggest penalties. Therefor it became an underground society managing this dangerous lifestyle.  

The new business are located in the outskirts of the city. A normal office building is connected to the blockchain, so renting an office becomes impossible. New innovative ways of working are developed. Like working in an old airplane, nobody uses those anymore.  

People leaving society form groups, start living together. Start to learn communicating in a different ways. Dancing, moving and touching. Personal connection becomes important. Feeling surrounded by people who look out for you, take care of you. The form small communities. Building houses with local materials. Small, local and centralized but also very social. Technology is not banned, but it’s just not the main good. Freedom by choice.
